Joseph Clark and Noah Pikes: Work with Interpreters

In 2003 Joseph Clark set up voice coaching courses for interpreters at the SCIC, European Commission, Brussels: Vocal training for interpreters.
He does similar courses with other organisations. Since 2009: AIIC, Brussels: Vocal training for interpreters and since 2010: NATO, Brussels: Vocal training for interpreters; NATO, Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vocal training for interpreters; Council of Europe, Strasbourg: Vocal training for interpreters.
Joseph Clark and Noah Pikes have recently collaborated in a number of courses at the SCIC in Brussels. They have been Voice-Coach colleagues and Artistic Director colleagues for over 25 years. They are both founder-members of the Roy Hart Theatre, London and France.

Individual vocal and interpretation work with actors/singers and companies throughout Europe (often integrated into the rehearsal period of a current production) including: Long standing collaboration with Suzanne Osten, Artistic director of Unga Klara, the City Theatre of Stockholm; National Opera School, Stockholm: Work in cooperation with Opera Directors and Singers.

Numerous workshops throughout Europe (France, Spain, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Italy) invited by theatre and music companies, schools, cultural institutions, festivals; storytelling workshops.
Joseph has also performed on stage, in his own productions, using a unique mixture of songs and texts, in France, Sweden, Belgium, UK.
He has a Master's degree in Philosophy.

Creator and Director of ‘The Whole Voice’, a person-based method and practice of voice use through which he has run diverse introductory, one, two and three year training courses, individual coaching, advanced teacher training for professionals including medical, business, education, performing arts and social care: Zürich, Lausanne, Geneva, Bern (Switzerland); Roy Hart Centre — CAIRH (France), London, Berlin

He has given workshops, presentations and seminars in: Switzerland, at the C. G. Jung Institute, Zürich, for psychoanalysts in training; UK, University of Central Lancashire: Visiting Research Fellow, Master Classes for Performing Arts staff and students; Aberystwyth University, Wales; Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, London; Brazil, Campo Limpo University; Poland, Jelenia Gora, Warsaw; Theatre Academy. Germany, Berlin; Institute for Gestalt Therapy.

Since 1990: Work with numerous individuals, artistic and other organisations on voice and performance, such as: the National Theatre, London, UK: work with performers of 'War Horse'; workshops for Cambridge Theatre Workshop Festival, UK, Academy of Live & Recorded Arts, and International Centre for Voice, London, UK; Association Courant d’Art, Strasbourg, France.

He has given solo and collaborative voice performances on stage: ‘The Tinheads Journey’, Whole Voice and world percussions, Sarmenstorf, Zurich, Strasbourg, Malérargues, ‘Vitres de Son’ — 10 micro-opéras jazz, with piano and violin, Malérargues, Montpellier, Nancy. ‘Evocations’ — solo voice — London, Zurich, Lille, Antwerp, Malérargues, Montpellier and on radio; ‘Poema Cantada’ by M. Escribano, on Spanish National Radio, ‘Der Letzte Sprung’ a role in a prize winning NDR radio play by Iris Disse. Noah Pikes’ book ‘Dark Voices: The Genesis of Roy Hart Theatre’ was published in 2000 by Spring Journal Books, CT, USA, and has since been twice revised. “A major document for voice practitioners.” (David Carey, Senior Voice Lecturer at Central School of Speech and Drama, London).

Noah Pikes lives in Zurich, where he is preparing two further books. He is a member of the Zuriberg Toastmasters Club.
He is a member of VASTA (Voice And Speech Trainers Association Inc.) and of CAIRH (Centre Artistique International Roy Hart).
